Centre for the Study of Lifelong Language Learning

The centre was established in 2007 as one of several research centres at Kellogg College, University of Oxford. It promotes research into lifelong language learning, particularly among mature learners.  Current projects include maintaining the Language Attrition Research Archive (www.lara.ox.ac.uk) as a bibliographical resource on natural language loss (first and second language attrition, and language re-learning), and following up the EURECAP Project on the value of captions (same language subtitles intended for the deaf and hard-of-hearing) for adult learners of French, German, Italian and Spanish. (R. Vanderplank, Captioned Media in Language Learning and Teaching, Palgrave Macmillan, 2016).
