Practical information

Languages Future takes place at King's College London, Bush House, 30 Aldwych, London, WC2B 4BG, on Monday 27 - Tuesday 28 April 2020.

Venue and Travel

Bush House is part of the King's Strand campus. Please come to the main Bush House building (marked Q on the campus map), which can be accessed from either the North, Aldwych entrance, or South, Strand entrance. The North entrance has two very shallow steps to the ground floor and is wheelchair accessible with assistance (a porter can provide a ramp), the South entrance is wheelchair accessible without assistance. There will be conference ambassadors there to direct you to the main conference area.

How to find us

Nearest underground/train stations: Temple (District and Circle lines): 2 minute walk; Holborn (Central and Piccadilly lines): 8 minute walk; Charing Cross (Bakerloo and Northern lines, national rail): 10 minute walk; Embankment (District, Circle and Bakerloo lines): 10 minute walk; Waterloo (Jubilee, Northern, Bakerloo, Waterloo & City lines, national rail): 12 minute walk; Blackfriars (national rail): 12 minute walk; Chancery Lane (Central line, use exit 4): 15 minute walk.

Bus routes: The following buses stop outside the main university building (Strand): 1, 4, 26, 59, 68, 76, X68, 168, 171, 172, 176 (24 hour), 188, 243 (24 hour), 341 (24 hour), 521, RV1.

Parking and other public transport services: Local parking is limited to a pay and display system in local streets. We would advise travelling to the conference by public transport. Further details of parking options, as well as other forms of public transport, can be found here.


Food and drink: Morning and afternoon tea and coffee will be provided. For lunch, attendees have the option of several cafes around King's. In Bush House itself, there is a café in The Arcade (08:30-17:00). There are many other options on the Strand, Kingsway and Covent Garden all of which are within easy walking distance of Bush House.

Conference dinner: There will be a reception on both nights.

Toilets: There are gender neutral toilets at Bush House. There are disabled toilets at Bush House. More details TBC.

Prayer rooms: The main prayer rooms on the Strand campus are the College Chapel, King’s Building, and the Muslim prayer room in S-1.03, Strand Building. Language Acts will also secure a small room in Bush House for conference attendees to use during the day, more details TBC.

Wifi Access: Delegates can register for free wifi access via The Cloud. To register, please connect to The Cloud via the wifi settings on your device and follow the instructions to create a new account.
