Join author Ece Temelkuran, author of How to Lose a Country: the 7 Steps from Democracy to Dictatorship , and historian Andrea Mammone as they discuss the rise of the 'strong man' in government around the world. Are we destined to live in a world of authoritarian regimes or is there a future for democracy?

The Italian Job (Sun 3 Nove, 2.30pm Coronet Theatre)

Join trade unionist and author Aboubakar Soumahoro to hear about the situation of migrant labourers in Italy. Soumahoro will be in discussion with the journalist Daniel Trilling, author of the recent Lights in the Distance: Exile and Refuge at the Borders of Europe (Picador, 2018).
