our words make worlds

Rethinking the Languages Pipeline in the Age of Brexit

This workshop, co-organized by Prof Claire Gorrara and Lucy Jenkins (Cardiff University), brings together key stakeholders in Modern Languages education, including school teachers, university staff, current and ex-students, and policy-makers, to understand what really motivates our undergraduate students to study languages? How have these motivations, and the experience of transitioning between school and university study, changed in the last ten years? Multilingualism is an integral part of UK everyday lives, and this event aims to reflect and consider how we might reconfigure the language landscape in the UK to make language learning more appealing to young people.
